Fresh back from my trip to Austria and have quite a bit of new material to post.
Thanks to everyone who stopped by and commented over the last few days, it's much appreciated and I'll do my best to pop by and leave comment too. Thanks.
I managed to get quite a few portraits that i'm happy with over the weekend and there some stories to tell as well. This shot however was taken in the medieval castle on the top of the hill overlooking Salzburg itself.
Someone had left this digger standing by the wall and what attracted me to the shot was the juxtaposition of the old and the new, the bright colour and the desaturation. One note about the horizon line, the digger was on a slope so I decided to leave it that way. I look forward to posting the next few images over the coming days.
I'm not mad about this shot, but have little else to post tonight. There is something however about the symmetry that I find attractive in some way.
I spent my first day working at home to day and it feels great! The office is setup nicely and my new Macbook Pro arrived yesterday, yay :-) It's very nice, and i'm really happy with it.
This shot was taken on one of my lunchtime excursions when I was still working in London and although a cold February day there wasn't a cloud in the sky.
After the last few posts of moody dark B&W's , I fancied something with a little colour in it. I live in the country, but work in London and have been making the most of the urban environment and getting out at lunchtimes to shoot some new material.
This shot is of the delivery entrance to the famous London store 'Liberty', it's just off Regents street and is a stones throw from my office. I like the different coloured tiles, offset by the reds and the blue neon with the yellow lines of the street, quite a mixture of primaries there, which is unusual for them to be all together.
I took a number of shots in this alley, there were a number of other interesting buildings and bits of graffiti that i'll probably post in the next few days. I've got to admit that I was getting a number of strange looks and comments shooting this sort of the subject, to the tune of "What's he taking a picture of that for..." , guess they haven't stumbled upon photoblogs and the crazy details that we find interesting.
As for processing, the lense distortion was removed in DXO as it does a great job of straightening out the clean but large distortion of my 12-24mm lense, other than that, the doorway is a little offset, but I like that and the image is cropped to a strange aspect ratio as none of the conventional ones covered the composition I was after. I hope you like it!
On most days i work in the West End of London, the area provides is a great place to walk around and take shots at lunchtime.
This light was in a stairwell and i liked the texture of the concrete and glass. B&W conversion was done in Aperture.
